shoot: the past, the present and the future

it had been a fantastic year in 2007 for the shuttler.

it saw the completion of an intensive three year occupational therapy program through which she enjoyed tremendously (studying never felt that enjoyable!!) and where she bonded with people from all walks of life, poring over journal articles, groaning over unwritten assignments and laughing their heads off at all the hilarious antics people came up with during classes. it saw the maturation of the shuttler as she stepped out of her comfort zone as a student and into the clinical settings in which her eyes were opened to the realities of life. somehow the course had did some good in changing the shuttler's perspectives in life, but there never seemed to be a specific reason to put her finger down to. perhaps this is what they call synthesis afterall.

the year also saw the shuttler taking a month long break, travelling around in various places. it was a fantastic trip where she lounged by the poolside with a good book, suntanned along the beautiful beaches with a nice cold drink next to her, explored majestic views where previously she only saw them in pictures, saw the other side of the world and bascially enjoyed the total freedom and satisfaction that came with travelling.

it also marked the shuttler's first job as an occupational therapist, doing the very things she loved. life as an occupational therapist has been nothing but enjoyable, though there were occasional frustrating moments where the shuttler felt like pulling her hair out, but with the presence of wonderful colleagues, there isn't much to complain , really. friendships had been forged out of the working relationships and the shuttler believes that they are meant to be made for life. the weekend getaway with a handful of colleagues also managed to bond them much closer which was a real nice way to start her working career.

in the year to come (or rather, has already started!), the shuttler hopes for it to be an exciting one.

she hopes that she would continue to do well in her job, explore opportunities for research work as well as obtaining that particular piece of qualification which would do her good in her field. she strives to be "a catalyst of change", like what her supervisor had told her previously, and she is really excited at the whole array of possibilities that are awaiting her to take on.

she also hopes that she would be able to maintain her friendships with those people whom she has drifted away from, either due to the nature of her hectic schedule or just, you know, somehow drifted apart. life's too short to miss out on meeting up with old pals!

in her personal life, the shuttler is not expecting much. she hopes to meet that someone eventually, but she is not pinning much hopes and expectations on it. afterall, with higher expectations come harder disappointments isn't it? the shuttler is contented to let nature run its course and maybe something good may come out it.
