shoot: of heat and pigs
apr 2009
it was as if there was some party going on at the third terminal the other weekend when the shuttler was there. it was extremely crowded everywhere, especially the dining places (no surprise, given that it was almost dinner time when the shuttler stepped into the terminal). guess everyone was escaping from the sweltering heat outside, choosing to remain in the spacious and cooling terminal.
the swine flu that has gotten the entire world on high alert has occupied a good half of the daily news bulletin. the shuttler's guess is that everyone would be affected at one point in time, given that most of the shuttler's friends are in the healthcare industry. friends who are busy scuttling writing travel advisory, doing triage checks, working in direct contact with patients, and even planning emergency responses - no place and no chance of escape.
good thing that this time round, the nation is prepared to fight the swine flu, to keep it beyond our shores. thermal scanners appeared almost the very next day at various immigration checkpoints and at the hospital where the shuttler works. all hospital staff are expected to do urgent mask fitting if they have yet done so, and all are to don masks especially at the front line.
the tension is in the air.
and meanwhile, the shuttler and prodi, together with another friend of theirs would be escaping the shores to the nearby countries for a relaxing holiday. not quite the time to relax, but nothing can be done since the holiday has already been planned.
all they can do, is cross their fingers and hope very hard that the health alert would not be raised.

shoot: a total wreck
the shuttler has a love-hate relationship with driving. driving is a highly stressful, multi-tasking, extremely sensory stimulating activity that the shuttler's poor little heart cannot quite take. especially not when she has an instructor who yells at every single mistake she makes, thus resulting in even more mistakes, as she reels back in horror at his yelling.
sigh. and she wonders how on earth she is going to pass the driving test and be a safe driver on the roads in another one and a half month's time.

aug 2008
barely three weeks into the new year and the shuttler already has a bad vibe about the year.
2008 had been a year where the shuttler found herself to have grown a little - in interpersonal relationships, in friendships, in knowledge and clinical skills, in managment practice, in self restraint and even that irritating flabby tummy due to her sedentary lifestyle. and yes, the shuttler is one hell of a lazy slob who rather spends her time paying off her sleep debt (and accumulating some ahead of time, since she doesn't get enough during the work week!) than to work those pathetic, almost non-existent muscles of hers.
but it also did see the shuttler being dragged along to the gym to work those muscles out a little towards the end of the year and setting a new year resolution (which she hasn't really been following, despite it only being about three weeks into the new year...) to use the gym thrice a week. a weak attempt to maintain a healthy lifestyle, to keep some of those muscles working and prevent herself from turning into a slob. weak but at least an attempt of some sort still.
work had been pretty satisfying most of the year, with plenty of opportunities to develop the shuttler's career. however, the missed opportunity did mar the otherwise clean record a little and the shuttler was indeed disappointed at how things turned out. but like they all say, there's always the next chance.
on the other aspects of the shuttler's life, she doesn't have much to comment about. some things are better left unsaid. others have no need to be said. so that's that.
the shuttler hopes that 2009 would turn out to be a much better year, not taking into consideration how the first three weeks had turned out to be.
happy new year folks. may you have a good year ahead!

shoot: desires
jun 2007
the shuttler really wishes that she has the chance to travel like she did once again; to do nothing but laze by the beach with a cold drink by the side, a good book in hand, and chillout music in her ears; to stroll leisurely along the streets taking in the local culture and atmosphere of the place and capturing snippets of local life as she walks along; to sit by a street cafe with a cup of coffee and people watch the entire afternoon.
but unfortunatly, her schedule does not seem to allow for that kind of luxury anymore.
the shuttler misses it very much.

shoot: one rainy night
it had been raining the entire day, no matter which area she had been. nothing serious like a typhoon of any sorts, but that persistant drizzle that did not let up was quite a mood damper.
she stood along the streets while her travelling partner busied himself shopping in the stores. it was a men's store, and he definitely didn't need her to help him choose his clothes. he knew his clothes well, and it showed well on him.
just a slight drizzle. she stood in the corner of the store, watching the people hurry along the streets, huddled under the umbrella. going home to a nice and warm home cooked meal after a long day in the office perhaps. out of the corner of her eye, she saw an old lady stamping her foot on a little soda can, and chucking it into a basket she dragged along behind her. the ironies of life.
she glanced into the store. he was at the counter paying for his purchases. a smile crept upon her face as she barely remembered them fighting over mundane stuff in their growing years. now he's become her travelling partner, someone who offers to carry her shopping bags, pushes the heavy luggage and well, takes care of things.
but to her, he will always remain the same little kid who fought with her over every single thing they could fight about. no matter how old he grows up to be.

shoot: deafening silence.
it has been kinda quiet in here for the longest period of time. guess the shuttler has ran out of time to update in this little space, to have the time to run outside with her camera and leisurely enjoying the world out there through the lens.
till the time the shuttler finds time yet again to update this pace.

shoot: the past, the present and the future
it had been a fantastic year in 2007 for the shuttler.
it saw the completion of an intensive three year occupational therapy program through which she enjoyed tremendously (studying never felt that enjoyable!!) and where she bonded with people from all walks of life, poring over journal articles, groaning over unwritten assignments and laughing their heads off at all the hilarious antics people came up with during classes. it saw the maturation of the shuttler as she stepped out of her comfort zone as a student and into the clinical settings in which her eyes were opened to the realities of life. somehow the course had did some good in changing the shuttler's perspectives in life, but there never seemed to be a specific reason to put her finger down to. perhaps this is what they call synthesis afterall.
the year also saw the shuttler taking a month long break, travelling around in various places. it was a fantastic trip where she lounged by the poolside with a good book, suntanned along the beautiful beaches with a nice cold drink next to her, explored majestic views where previously she only saw them in pictures, saw the other side of the world and bascially enjoyed the total freedom and satisfaction that came with travelling.
it also marked the shuttler's first job as an occupational therapist, doing the very things she loved. life as an occupational therapist has been nothing but enjoyable, though there were occasional frustrating moments where the shuttler felt like pulling her hair out, but with the presence of wonderful colleagues, there isn't much to complain , really. friendships had been forged out of the working relationships and the shuttler believes that they are meant to be made for life. the weekend getaway with a handful of colleagues also managed to bond them much closer which was a real nice way to start her working career.
in the year to come (or rather, has already started!), the shuttler hopes for it to be an exciting one.
she hopes that she would continue to do well in her job, explore opportunities for research work as well as obtaining that particular piece of qualification which would do her good in her field. she strives to be "a catalyst of change", like what her supervisor had told her previously, and she is really excited at the whole array of possibilities that are awaiting her to take on.
she also hopes that she would be able to maintain her friendships with those people whom she has drifted away from, either due to the nature of her hectic schedule or just, you know, somehow drifted apart. life's too short to miss out on meeting up with old pals!
in her personal life, the shuttler is not expecting much. she hopes to meet that someone eventually, but she is not pinning much hopes and expectations on it. afterall, with higher expectations come harder disappointments isn't it? the shuttler is contented to let nature run its course and maybe something good may come out it.
may 2008 be a fantastic for you as well!

shoot: taking a stroll
national park, athens2007
the shuttler thought that it would be a good idea to blow off the thick layer of dust accumulating in this area and to revive what she had started out to be a place of writing and photography.
things have been going on well at the workplace, and the shuttler is extremely happy with whatever she is currently doing. sometimes she can't believe how lucky she is, with the excellent job and wonderful colleagues at the workplace. of course, there would be occasional moments of whining and complaining, but nevertheless, the shuttler thinks that she can't be happier at another workplace than where she is now.
with work comes responsibilities and many other considerations. but the shuttler thinks that she'll survive, just like how she had survived many other occasions.
